Schick xtreme 3 vs mach 38/8/2023 ![]() I started with Atra/Contour and then used Sensor for many years which always gave me close shaves but often with razor burn and occasionally I got ingrown hairs which I never have with a DE - in the hot summer of 2004 for some reason I got a razor burn with ingrowns that got herpes infected on the neck - I couldn't shave for 4-6 weeks until everything healed more or less and the beard piercing through the herpes infected skin hurt like hell - it was a real nightmare.įor some reason my skin didn't like the Mach3 which always gave me terrible razor burn - the Fusion on the other hand was always a great cartridge I never had issues with except for minor razor burn occasionally (but never ingrown hair) and the price. You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. I'm one of those who think hystereris (pulling and cutting hair below skin lavel) is a thing and not just marketing - but while imho multiblade carts give a closer shave than single edge/DE razors (cutting hair at skin level) they're also the reason for ingrown hairs for many men and can irritate the skin even more. With a DE blade you can just change when you need because they are cheap! The only thing it was really bad for cartridge is that after the second/third shave the blade start to get dull and it would really hurt and made a mess (to the point I needed to shave 2 days before an event), and those things were expensive enough that I would always try to use the maximum possible of a cartridge. so overall it improved a lot, but it's the whole process and technique, not just the cartridge vs DE. Moving to DE shaving it changed several things, I learned how to shave WTG before going ATG, I started to pay attention rather than just shave whatever, I'm using a better shaving cream. I never considered updating my knowledge, shaving foam came from a cheap can and you shave against the grain once and that's it (no need for anything else as you use 3 blades, right?). I am not much of a cologne guy (too strong a scent makes me feel itchy), but my wife has been liking the soap and after shave balm scents I have been using.įor me I learned how to shave with a mach3 (cartridge) with my father several years ago and that was it. Now I won’t say I’m saving money overall, but the savings I am making compared to cartridges is going into soap and brushes. That freaking hurt worse (and quite a lot of bleeding) than any knick or weeper a de razor gave me. I slipped on my upper lip and put two parallel 1cm slices near the corner of my mouth. I have dry sensitive skin, but didn’t get bumps, just a bit of razor burn.Īs for nicks and cuts, I have never cut myself as bad as I did at 18 with a Gillete Atra? 2 blade. ![]() I usually didn’t have problems with cartridges until I went a few shaves too many as it got dull. While the cost for razors is more, the blades are a 1/10 the cost and depending on packaging, no plastic waste. ![]() I switched from Gillete Fusion to Dorco 4 blade before going to DE. New? Curious?
